Game day 3 saw us Away for the 1st time this season to West End Park Devils FC the weather was not the best with continuing rain.
Game started off very slow in very wet conditions struggling to get the ball down and make any decent passes or killer passes through the West End defence. Marshall Park created a couple of chances but nothing clear cut. West End Park created a couple of opportunities with the surface being so wet Christian Lloyd pulling off a couple of excellent saves.
However Marshall was in control of the game with possession and tempo. Making the breakthrough just before half time when Matty Fannon caught the defender out who was not on his toes by pressing him stole the ball away from him to run in on goal from 30 yards out. Still plenty to do to beat the keeper with Matty calmly slotting the ball past the goalkeeper with 3 defenders quickly closing him down. Marshall 1 nil up. Matty with his 4th goal so far this season….
HT 1-0
Second half Marshall came out once again with control of the game & looking the much stronger team. Playing some really nice football. Marshall soon got the second goal through a nice passing move playing the ball down the wing to Matty who attempted to cross the ball to Natty however the defender tried to block the cross for the ball to fly into his own goal 2-0 to Marshall Park.
Marshall kept up the pressure and with West End Park having one clear cut shot in 2nd half which Christian saved well once again. Marshall was confident & comfortable on the ball looking to see the game out. West End Park slowly getting tired, losing composure as the game went on.
Marshall made a few subs with Daniel Jackson coming off the bench. We were passing the ball around putting in strong challenges and winning the first and second ball. Marshalls 3rd and last goal came from a delicious cross from Danny that was headed in by Natty at the far post. Nathaniel Brazier with 3 in 3 games great start to the season lad.
Marshall had a few more chances but no more goals were scored. Special mention to Adam Raven who’s overhead kick was close to being worldie of a goal…
Marshall saw the game out keeping a clean sheet with 3 goals and 3 points.
A very wet Saturday morning but great result for the team. Well done to the subs too who made impact on the game.
BIG THANK YOU To supports for bravery in the pouring rain to cheer us on…
