Over 15 years ago in Marshall Park, just off Haw Lane, Yeadon. There was dads and lads Sunday afternoon group that started. This soon developed into a weekly football game which began to grow to other parents getting involved and their children coming along. Sadly COVID put a stop to us being able to carry on weekly for a couple of years.
However In 2021 the lads had now become older teenagers growing to be young men, leaving high school and attending college and getting jobs etc. The group of lads that had been playing together and develop long standing friendships soon all wanted to play football in a league together. The only way that was possible was to form a Football team. We chatted together with the lads and they came up with ’Marshall Park FC’.
Chris Sullivan & Mark Woods as the main parents who for years had sacrificed their Sundays to support their sons in the football. They made a few enquiries asking Denver Thompson who was Rev at a local church. Denver had joined the dads and lads in 2018. Denver was on board straight away. He had the heart and ability for Marshall Park FC to have its own badge, Consitution, bank account and had its affiliations with West Riding FA. Becoming part of the then ‘YCFL’ based in the Leeds & Bradford area.
2021-2022
Matthew Jackson was our 1st ever manager who we won our 1st UNITY TROPHY in Summer 2021 beating Yeadon FC & North United in a round robbing set of games. During the 2021/2022 season we won the League cup trophy beating North United 3-2 in the final.
2022-2023
Matthew Jackson stepped down as manager of Marshall Park and has recently got married and is enjoying his new found freedom. Kevin Thompson took charge of Marshall Park as the start of the 2022-23 season. Kevin is no stranger to us as he is former players dad Luke Thompson. Kevin has been involved with coaching at Guiseley FC. In Summer 2022 we retained our UNITY Trophy beating Armley FC.
2023-2024
The YCFL disbanded in summer 2023. Then becoming the West Yorkshire Fair Play League. Marshall park carried onto be part of the league for a few years. Chris Sullivan felt in Summer 2024 that he had gone as far as he could with the heart and vision for Marshall Park FC. We Thank Chris for his heart, vision, time, finances and passion to see the team succeed and develop. He was very much at every game and always wanted it to be “Entertaining”.
2024-2025
The 2024-25 season saw a transition from Kevin Thompson to Jonny Jackson who again we all know as he is Danny, Bryan & Shaun’s dad. Keen and enthusiastic to see us as a club move up the table and hopefully win another trophy or 2. Marshall Park FC had its AGM at end of 24/25 season and the players voted to leave the WYFPL and join Leeds Community Football League. We are looking forward to seeing how the new adventures will unfold with new teams and players into our 25/26 season.
2025-2026
The 2025-26 season has seen a few changes. After having four seasons in the same league we as a club felt it was time to join a new league to give us a new challenge. Leeds Football Community League we are now affiliated with. The games will continue on a Saturday mornings.
Stephen Quinn who has played for us last 4 seasons a loyal supporter of the heart of the football club is going to be our coach/manager for the 25/26 season. Stephen brings a depth of knowledge to Marshall Park not only from a coaching perspective but he also is a qualified ref. We are looking forward to working with Stephen.
Football is a great inchoative for building friendships, confidence and to encourage youth in the development of life. We have found that over recent years there has been a real togetherness between all the local community.
